Affordable Asbestos Removal Cardiff

If you're a resident of Caerphilly, you may be wondering if the local council, Caerphilly County Borough Council, provides asbestos removal services, particularly for asbestos roofs in garages. Unfortunately, the council's asbestos removal policy is not as straightforward as one might hope.

Asbestos sheets, often found in corrugated roofs, are a common source of asbestos in garages. These sheets can contain asbestos fibres, which can be released into the air when damaged or disturbed. Prolonged exposure to asbestos fibres can pose serious health risks, including lung cancer and mesothelioma.

While Caerphilly County Borough Council does provide a hazardous waste collection service, including asbestos, it's essential to note that this service is subject to certain conditions. The council will only collect asbestos waste if it's properly packaged and disposed of in a way that minimizes the risk of fibre release.

If you're planning to remove an asbestos roof from your garage in Caerphilly, you'll need to ensure that the work is carried out by a licensed asbestos removal contractor. This is a legal requirement, as asbestos removal work can be hazardous if not done correctly.

If you're unsure about how to dispose of asbestos waste or need guidance on asbestos removal, you can contact Caerphilly County Borough Council's waste management team. They'll be happy to provide you with information on the council's asbestos removal policy and procedures.

To ensure safe asbestos removal, it's crucial to follow the correct procedures. This includes:

• Using personal protective equipment (PPE) to minimize fibre release
• Ensuring the asbestos is properly packaged and disposed of
• Following the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012

Cement asbestos sheets, commonly found in corrugated roofs, are a type of asbestos-containing material (ACM). These sheets can be particularly hazardous if damaged or disturbed, as they can release asbestos fibres into the air.
