Affordable Asbestos Removal Cardiff

Asbestos was a common ingredient in various building materials, including Artex, a popular textured coating used on ceilings and walls in homes and buildings across the UK, including Caerphilly. However, the use of asbestos in Artex was phased out in the late 1980s due to growing concerns over its health risks.

Artex, also known as textured ceiling coating, was widely used in the UK from the 1950s to the 1980s. It was a mixture of cement, water, and aggregate, which was applied to ceilings and walls to create a textured finish. Unfortunately, many Artex products contained asbestos, a group of minerals that can cause serious health problems when inhaled.

In 1984, the UK government banned the use of asbestos in textured coatings, including Artex. However, it's estimated that many homes and buildings in Caerphilly and across the UK still contain asbestos-containing Artex. If you suspect that your property contains asbestos in Artex, it's essential to have it tested and removed by a licensed asbestos removal contractor.

AIB ceilings, also known as asbestos insulating board ceilings, were another common feature in many UK homes and buildings. These ceilings were made from a mixture of asbestos, cement, and aggregate, which was pressed into a board. AIB ceilings were often used in conjunction with Artex textured coatings.

The cost of asbestos removal from Artex and AIB ceilings can vary depending on the size of the area, the amount of asbestos present, and the complexity of the job. On average, the cost of asbestos removal can range from £500 to £5,000 or more per project.

Textured coatings, including Artex, were often applied to ceilings and walls to create a decorative finish. However, many of these coatings contained asbestos, which can be released into the air when disturbed. If you're planning to renovate or demolish a property with textured coatings, it's essential to have them tested for asbestos first.
